John Antoniou, MD, PhD, FRCSC, FAAOS

John is one of Trepso’s scientific founders. He is a full tenured Professor of Surgery and Research Director of the McGill University’s Division of Orthopaedic Surgery. John recently served as the president of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association and president of the Canadian Orthopaedic Research Society; he continues to be an active member of both. He is also a scientific reviewer for journals, conferences, and grant task forces, and serves on several editorial boards. John’s clinical focus is the treatment of active patients with arthritic hips and knees. His research focuses on outcomes of total hip and knee arthroplasty, and biological repair strategies for aging discs and osteoarthritic cartilage using stem cells and growth factors. John graduated from McGill University medical school in 1991, McGill Orthopaedic residency in 1997, and McGill PhD in experimental surgery in 1999. He completed three fellowships in Seattle (UW), Chicago (Rush), and Philadelphia (UPenn) respectively before returning to work at McGill. He is a member of the Royal college of Surgeons of Canada, a US board certified Orthopaedic surgeon, and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic surgeons. He currently serves on the Board of the Orthopaedic Research Society and he is also a member of the Hip Society, an academic by-invitation-only membership organization comprising internationally recognized thought-leaders, innovators, mentors, researchers, and educators.
