Fackson Mwale, PhD, FIOR
Fackson is one of Trepso’s scientific founders. He is a tenured professor and Graduate Program Director in Experimental Surgery at McGill University and has served as co-director of the Orthopaedic Research Laboratory at Lady Davis Research Institute since 2000. Fackson is a standing member of NIH’s Musculoskeletal Tissue Engineering (MTE) Study Section and was previously a standing member of the NIH Skeletal Biology Structure and Regeneration (SBSR) Study Section. He is an editorial board member for European Cells and Materials and the Journal of Orthopedic Research, and a reviewer for many other journals. Fackson has served as President of both the Canadian Orthopaedic Research Society and the Canadian Connective Tissue Society and is an organizing member of the Combined Orthopaedic Research Society.
His clinical interest is in intervertebral discs, cartilage and bone, and his research interest is in tissue engineering of intervertebral disc and cartilage. Fackson received his PhD from the University of South Carolina, followed by a post-Doctoral fellowship at McGill University. He is a Fellow of International Orthopaedic Research (FIOR) of the ICORS International College of Fellows and many other honours and awards.
